The 6×19S-SFC is a safety wire rope specifically designed for elevator overspeed governors. Unlike elevator traction ropes, its primary function is to reliably trigger the safety gear during an emergency, rather than bearing the weight of the elevator car over the long term.
The Seale (S) construction features thicker outer wires and thinner inner wires. This design provides excellent wear and crush resistance, enabling the rope to withstand the wear caused by continuous operation within the overspeed governor's sheave groove.
Compared to natural fiber cores (NF/FC), synthetic fiber cores offer advantages such as moisture resistance, immunity to rot, and superior dimensional stability. These qualities are critical for safety components, ensuring that the rope maintains consistent length and performance—even in hoistway environments characterized by high humidity or significant temperature fluctuations—thereby preventing safety risks associated with core swelling or deterioration due to moisture absorption.
